Vietnamese Traditional Lunar New Year (Tet Holiday) Tet, short for “Tet Nguyen Dan,” is the most important traditional holiday in Vietnam. It marks the beginning of the Lunar New Year and usually takes place between late January and mid-February. Tet is not only a celebration of the arrival of spring but also a meaningful time for family reunions, cultural traditions, and spiritual reflection. Before Tet begins, families thoroughly clean and decorate their houses to remove bad luck from the previous year and welcome good fortune. Many people buy flowers such as peach blossoms in the north and apricot blossoms in the south, which symbolize prosperity and happiness.
